A Relaxing Time in Zanzibar

Here are some photos from our wonderfully relaxing time at Nungwi Beach on Zanzibar, Tanzania. The weather was a little variable, since we were there at the beginning of the rainy season, but it was still marvelous. We had forgotten how nice it feels to be on a beach doing nothing!

When you have nothing to do but lay on the beach and take photos of boats… That’s exactly what you do!

We were caught in a rain storm, and had to take shelter under coral outcroppings on the beach.

Susan, the bracelet is a funny story. A guy approached me on the beach with a whole collection of bracelets and necklaces, etc. Of course I said no, because we aren’t really buying much on our trip besides an ornament per region or country for our Christmas tree. So after I said no to him a few more times, he got the point and walked away. Shortly after, another guy approached me with some key chains he had carved, trying to sell them. I ended up ordering one with a dolphin as on it as an ornament to commemorate Zanzibar and remember the dolphin tour we were going to take the next day (which is another funny story, since that ended up not working out…). The moment the key chain guy moved on to go carve our ornament, the bracelet guy came back and demanded me to buy, since I had told him I wasn’t buying anything and then turned around and bought something. So I gave in and bought that bracelet from him!

so there you go, you are watched whether you like it or not. Also you learn her that no means no or you end up spending more than you would have, had you bought right away.

    Funny
