The iPadNomads are Earl and Charlotte Almeida, a married couple from Vancouver, British Columbia, on Canada’s west coast. We’ve been together since 2007 and married in October 2009. We’ve been dreaming about traveling around the world together since before we were married.
For our honeymoon, we decided against the more traditional exotic destination in favour of a nice getaway in a secluded cabin in Oregon along with a road trip along the California coast. It was our idea to save the exotic trip for our first anniversary, which we did in 2010 when we travelled to Australia and New Zealand. Over our years together, we also enjoyed short trips to the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Bahamas, Mexico and many cities across the US and Canada.
In September 2011, we made the decision to move on from the positions we had held since our first year in university (since 1999 and 2002 respectively) with the intent of traveling the world before starting a family. It was at that point that we became nomads and for the next 3 months we road tripped all around North America visiting friends and families. In December 2011, we took the plunge and booked our trip around the world, for 8 months, starting January 2012.
The goal of this site: To share stories from around the world and provide tips for traveling with technology.
Everyone travels differently. Some like to see the sites and move on to the next city and see as much as they can in a short period of time. Others like to settle down in an area and soak in the culture. Our trip to Australia in 2010 helped us realize that we want a happy medium of both. We have many places we would like to see and would love to spend several weeks in just one community. For this trip, we are combining some quick visits to some areas with some extended stays with family in other areas.
We know we can’t see the entire world on this adventure, but we know there are many adventures still to come.
Thanks for joining us on our journey!
